So many great suggestions and I will definitely consider them all! I do feel the illustration is missing something. So any of your suggestions could be exactly what it needs. I'll let it stew in my head for a bit and come back to it later.

I'll post the updates upon finishing them!! I think you've created a consistent character of John and that is one hard nut to crack. He's beautifully illustrated. As for the "close-in" shot..I like it. I think it will be perfect in your portfolio to show along with the other more atmospheric pieces. I'm thinking that if you want to break the tight feeling, perhaps let the steam float and break from the shape? Just a thought. I like breaking those rules myself. Anyway, I thank you for your super words at my blog. I am grateful for your visits and encouragement..it is with you and some other wonderful blog friends that I continue to stay on the path. Thank you! Happy Holidays to you.Shirleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04703768956294366254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682153637090506704.post-59202234538904463962009-12-16T07:59:57.317-05:002009-12-16T07:59:57.317-05:00Btw, I'm ADORING this story and the imagery! ...Btw, I'm ADORING this story and the imagery! Hehe, then that's also just me. Or maybe some yellows/oranges coming from the fire below the pot. Hum, I think where I'm trying to get to is I don't feel the warmth and scent of the pot yet. There are a lot of cool colors and not enough warms. Does any of that make sense? :PSara Burrierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18437648523355710788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1682153637090506704.post-89589107858692676242009-12-15T19:46:44.448-05:002009-12-15T19:46:44.448-05:00I think this illustration, following the others, g...I think this illustration, following the others, gives good balance... calming down a bit and giving rhythm (if that makes sense) I really like it!
