Wise Words from Maurice Sendak

Wise words from Mr. Sendak in regards to how an Illustrator should approach bringing out their story in a children's book. Maurice Sendak is royalty within the Children's Book and Illustration fields. He is best known for being the creator of the CLASSIC and timeless, Where the Wild Things Are! It just lets me know that I have a LONG way to go! I'll enjoy getting there!

This interview was taken from a documentary on him titled, “There’s a Mystery There: Sendak on Sendak: A Retrospective in Words and Pictures” produced by the Rosenbach Museum & Library in Philadelphia. The DVD explores the masterful storytellers extraordinary career through his own words as the author talks about his favorite characters and the many influences and settings of his richest stories. Get the DVD at www.rosenbach.org!

Thanks to How To Be A Childrens Book Illustrator for the blog post!
